Poulsbo woman, 27, dies after car strikes telephone pole

A 27-year-old Poulsbo woman was killed late Sept. 11 after driving her car into a telephone pole on Lemolo Shore Drive.

Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office investigators believe speed was a contributing factor, and there were signs of possible drug use, Lt. Ken Dickinson said. The coroner’s office identified the woman as Danielle Simpson. She died at the scene. Toxicology reports are pending to determine the cause and manner of death.

Dickinson said Simpson was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer southbound toward a curve when she drifted off the road and ended up in a gravel area. She tried to steer back onto the road but overcorrected, crossing back over the road and hitting the telephone pole.

High-voltage wires fell on the vehicle, requiring Puget Sound Energy to respond.
