Just because a graffiti vandal may not get caught with paint on his hands doesn’t mean he will get away.
Along with a graffiti spree discovered Sunday morning outside Poulsbo, a Kitsap County sheriff’s deputy found a spray can cap that will be tested for fingerprints.
The deputy was called to the 26000 block of Twelve Trees Lane NW when a groundskeeper found the graffiti, which included profanity, references to marijuana and “white power,” according to reports.
The groundskeeper estimated the damage at about $1,000.
Some prints were successfully identified on the lid, the report said, and detectives were notified.
Sheriff’s spokesman Scott Wilson said fingerprint testing is done at the office.
“We’ve got to do it, but we don’t always get results we want,” Wilson said.
If the prints don’t match any in the office’s database, they will remain on file, Wilson said.
New guidelines for property crimes would put the graffiti in the range of a felony, Wilson said.
