POULSBO – The suspect in a Dec. 5 burglary on Laura Loop near Highway 305 was arrested Dec. 18 by Kitsap County Sheriff’s deputies.

Deputies were still looking for firearms reported stolen in the burglary.

Hayden David Armstrong-Nunes, 21, was apprehended around 6:30 p.m. after a short pursuit on foot and a physical confrontation, outside of the

Rhododendron Apartments, 225 NE High School Road on Bainbridge Island, Sheriff’s spokesman Deputy Scott Wilson reported.

Also arrested was Armstrong-Nunes’ girlfriend, identified as Ruthanne Villarreal, 24. She was taken into custody inside an apartment at the same location and booked into Kitsap County Jail for outstanding misdemeanor warrants and on a probable-cause arrest charge of rendering criminal assistance.

Villarreal was jailed on $26,500 bail.

“Armstrong-Nunes was initially transported to jail for booking around midnight, Wednesday. Due to concerns about his physical well-being regarding possible narcotics ingestion, the suspect was taken to the emergency department at Harrison Medical Center, Bremerton,” Wilson reported.

“Once cleared by attending physicians, Armstrong-Nunes was returned to the jail and eventually booked for an arrest warrant, issued Dec. 8 out of Kitsap County District Court, for burglary, first degree, and theft of a firearm.”

Bail was set at $250,000.

Additionally, Armstrong-Nunes is also being held on a no-bail felony arrest warrant issued by the state Department of Corrections for escape from community custody, Wilson reported.

Armstrong-Nunes is suspected of burglarizing a home in the 5400 block of NE Laura Loop, n the Port Madison Indian Reservation, around 10 a.m. on Dec. 5.

Armstrong-Nunes allegedly entered the occupied home and became involved in a physical confrontation with the homeowner. The suspect sustained a serious injury to his hand from a large knife or sword.

The homeowner later determined that several family firearms were missing, believed stolen by Armstrong-Nunes.

The suspect contacted a neighboring house, asking for help, but left before

sheriff’s patrol deputies could arrive. He fled southbound on foot and was last observed at the Longhouse Texaco convenience store, 15915 Highway 305. He was provided a ride into Poulsbo by a store customer who was refueling his vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle was not involved with Armstrong-Nunes, other than providing him a ride when solicited, Wilson reported.

“Since Dec. 5, Armstrong-Nunes has been on the move, with Villarreal, as they fled from one location to another, fully aware that sheriff’s deputies and detectives were not far behind,” Wilson reported.
