Details on possible locations for a new Silverdale Library were made public Wednesday at a meeting of the board of trustees of the Kitsap Regional Library.

According to Jeff Brody, director of community relations for KRL, the library board received three proposals for siting a new Silverdale Library.

The first proposal from Kitsap County suggests two possible locations on the Central Kitsap Community Campus, near the YMCA.

The second proposal involves an existing 19,000-square-foot building located at 3888 N.W. Randall Way, just west of the community campus. That building now houses offices, including the Central Kitsap Reporter.

The third proposal suggests locating the new library on property at the corner of Bucklin Hill Road and Blaine Avenue, next to Clear Creek and across from the Old Mill Park.

Architect Steve Rice, working for KRL, presented a preliminary analysis of the three sites to the board last night.

Brody said starting next week, a display at the Silverdale Library will allow the public to share opinions about the site options. The library will also take comments via email.

The KRL Board will also host a public comment hearing July 22 at 5:30 p.m. in Scout Hall, next to the current Silverdale Library, at 3450 N.W. carlton, in Old Town Silverdale.

Brody said the public comment period will end Aug. 15. The Board is scheduled to pick the site for the new Silverdale Library on Aug. 26.
