Port Orchard man found dead in shallow water

The victim had a history of seizures.

PORT ORCHARD — A Port Orchard man attending a party near Haven Lake in Tahuya was found dead in shallow water after wandering away from a family gathering Sunday, July 29.

The 33-year-old man, Tracy Barlet, had been attending a party at the 2100 block of Haven Way when guests realized he had been missing from the gathering. Barlet reportedly had a history of seizures.

Neighbors and guests at the party looked for Barlet for 15 minutes until he was found unresponsive in the lake at about 1:45 p.m. Before medics arrived on the scene, searchers attempted to revive him through CPR. Deputies from the Mason County Sheriff’s Office arrived about 10 minutes later, but the victim was pronounced dead.

The Mason County Coroner had yet to determine the cause of Barlet’s death.
