Port commissioners to adopt 2014 budget

Bremerton port looking at a $14.4 million budget in 2014

Commissioners for the Port of Bremerton are expected to adopt a 2014 budget when they meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday. The board of commissioners will meet in the Bill Mahan Conference Room at the Bremerton National Airport, 8850 Highway 3, Bremerton.

On the agenda is a public hearing on the budget, followed by adoption of the $14.4 million budget which doesn’t raise taxes. The budget calls for $5.1 million to be spent on operations in 2014 and another $8.7 in capital projects.

Commissioners also are expected to hear a follow up report about previous vandalism at the Port Orchard Marina Park, discuss the master plan update for the airport, and possibly announce their selection of a new port CEO.

Current CEO Tim Thomson is retiring at the end of December and commissioners have held a series of closed sessions on Saturdays during which they have selected and interviewed candidates from a national search for the job.
