Pace crowned Miss Viking Fest, Norton Little Miss

Allison Pace was crowned Miss Viking Fest and Luci Norton was crowned Little Miss Viking Fest in the pageant April 27 at North Kitsap Auditorium.

POULSBO — Allison Pace was crowned Miss Viking Fest and Luci Norton was crowned Little Miss Viking Fest in the pageant April 27 at North Kitsap Auditorium.

Brianna Berkhout and Connie Sue Vargas were named Miss Viking Fest princesses. Nikki Morgan-Reyes and Kallan Anderson were named Little Miss Viking Fest princesses.

Approximately 300 people attended the pageant, according to pageant director Kari McKinsey.

As the Miss Viking Fest title winner, Pace receives a $1,500 scholarship from the Viking Fest Corporation. Each Miss Viking Fest princess receives a $750 scholarship, McKinsey said.

The Viking Fest court serves for one year and represents Viking Fest at public events. Viking Fest is held each May and celebrates the heritage of Poulsbo’s early Norwegian settlers, who arrived beginning in the 1880s. Viking Fest coincides with Norway’s Constitution Day.

This year’s Viking Fest is May 17-19.

Pageant contestants were judged on an interview with judges, an impromptu question, evening gown and a speech or skit based on the pageant theme, “The Old West.”

The new Miss Viking Fest, Allison Pace, succeeds Maelena Mattson.

Pace is a 17-year-old junior at North Kitsap High School. She has been involved in ASB, volleyball, American Kennel Club junior handler, and the Honor Society. Allison was sponsored by Calportland and Kitsap Peninsula Tree Service. She is the granddaughter of Kris and Bob Pace of Poulsbo.

Miss Viking Fest Princess Brianna Berkhout is a 15-year-old sophomore at North Kitsap High School. She is involved in track, soccer, volleyball, Kids Korps, and the Honor Society. Brianna is sponsored by friends and family. She is the daughter of Brodie and Chris Berkhout of Poulsbo.

Miss Viking Fest Princess Connie Sue Vargas is a 15-year-old sophomore at North Kitsap High School. She is involved in Lifesavers, American Sign Language, volleyball, and her church youth group. Connie was sponsored by Booth Escrow, LLC, Cutler Bookkeeping Solutions, Custom Tile Works, Bella de Jour, and Trueman Plumbing. She is the daughter of Santiago and Marcy Vargas of Poulsbo.

Little Miss Viking Fest Luci Norton is a 10-year-old fifth-grader at Gordon Elementary School. She loves to sing, dance, knit, and write poetry. She was sponsored by Boomers Pet Boutique, Modern Mercantile, McClaine Landscape Service Inc., and Thor’s Hammer and Needle. She is the daughter of Troy and Melissa Norton of Kingston.

Little Miss Viking Fest Princess Nikki Morgan-Reyes is a 9-year-old fourth-grader at Vinland Elementary School. She loves to sing, dance, draw and play softball. She was sponsored by Variety Roofing & Construction, and Valholl Brewing Co. LLC. She is the daughter of Andres and Mary Grace Morgan-Reyes of Poulsbo.

Little Miss Viking Fest Princess Kallen Anderson is a 9-year-old third-grader at Suquamish Elementary School. She loves to watch movies, listen to music, have sleepovers, and jump on the trampoline.  She was sponsored by Deveau Building Company, The Green Door Spa, and Bainbridge Island Physical Therapy. She is the daughter of Josh and Olivia Anderson of Kingston.
