Olympic College hosts a Tribute to Veterans and Active Duty Military on May 13

Leaders from Kitsap’s military bases will gather at Olympic College to honor veterans and active duty military members. The event celebrates the strong ties to the military in our community and at Olympic College as we near Memorial Day.

BREMERTON — Leaders from Kitsap’s military bases will gather at Olympic College to honor veterans and active duty military members. The event celebrates the strong ties to the military in our community and at Olympic College as we near Memorial Day.

Guest speakers include Capt. Thomas Zwolfer, Naval Base Kitsap’s commanding officer; and Capt. David K. Kohnke, Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division commanding officer. The event features a presentation of colors by the Bremerton High School Color Guard, an introduction from Olympic College President Dr. David Mitchell, and veteran speakers from the college.

The tribute will take place at 11 a.m. May 13 at the Olympic College Bremerton Campus, in the Humanities and Student Services Building Atrium.

Immediately following the program there will be a free barbecue lunch for active-duty military and courtesy of the United Services Organization (USO). There is a $5 charge for civilians.
