City leaders hope to hold their first council meeting in Poulsbo’s new city hall on Nov. 17. The $15.9 million structure, which sits at the corner of Moe Street and Third Avenue, likely won’t open for business until then, Public Works Director Barry Loveless said Wednesday.

The city previously planned to open its new 30,000-square-foot home in October, but several construction hang-ups have pushed back the schedule.

“We’ve had four major subcontractors go out of business on this job. It has delayed the job substantially,” said Poulsbo Mayor Becky Erickson.

Once open, department offices and the municipal court will relocate to the new city hall. Some portions of the building, including an office originally designed for the mayor, will be leased out to help pay for the building.
