Nothing burns like a Deere

Poulsbo Fire Department responds to lawnmower fire on Lakeness Road

POULSBO — The Poulsbo Fire Department responded to blaze that had broken out in the yard of Steve and Bonnie Graham at their NW Lakeness Road residence in Poulsbo around 10:45 a.m. Wednesday, June 27.

The homeowner reported no injuries and noted that nothing out of the ordinary preceeded the fire.

“I got done mowing, I put the tarp over it, walked away and it probably leaked some gas and caught on fire,” Steve Graham said of the fire which destroyed his 1995 John Deere mower and slightly scorched the tree it was parked beneath.

“He was doing his yardwork and he says, ‘tractor’s on fire, did you call 911?’” Bonnie said. “The neighbor came over with his fire extinguisher and we got the hose and doused it.”

The Poulsbo Fire Department did not offer any suggestions to the homeowners as to what caused the fire.
