POULSBO — Patrice “Patty” Page’s superintendent contract was unanimously accepted by the North Kitsap School Board Thursday night. Page will earn a base salary of $140,000 per year.
Four out of five board members voted. Scott Henden was absent.
Page’s salary is about the equivalent of exiting superintendent Richard Jones. Page will replace Jones July 1.
Of 32 school districts with enrollment of 4,000-8,000 students, North Kitsap’s enrollment is almost in the middle but its superintendent’s salary is on the low end. About five superintendents are being paid less than Page will be. Of those districts, Kenneth Hoover of the Monroe School District is the highest paid, at $211,692. Monroe has a student population of 7,175. Monroe has eight schools, with three alternative or online schools. North Kitsap has just over 6,000 students with 11 schools, one alternative school and one homeschool program.
Of those districts, Joan Zook of the Shelton School District is lowest paid, at $130,491.
The average base salary in Washington for a superintendent is $163,131.88.
