NKSD seeking applicants for vacant school board seat

The North Kitsap School District Board is accepting applications to fill the seat vacated by Rick Eckert April 11.

The board will appoint a new director to fill the seat through November 2025, an NKSD news release states. A candidate must be at least 18 years old, a U.S. citizen, a registered voter, and a resident of Director District 1, which is in Poulsbo. A map of director boundaries is available from the Kitsap County Auditor’s Office.

Interested candidates should complete the application at nkschools.org/boardapp. Applications are also available at the Student Support Center, 18360 Caldart Ave. NE in Poulsbo. They are due by 4 p.m. May 9. The board will review applications that day, and, if necessary, narrow the pool to five people for interviews.

Applicants will be interviewed publicly May 15 at 5:30 p.m. in the boardroom at the Student Support Center and online. The board will select the new board member May 15, and the person will take office May 23.
