KINGSTON — Help North Kitsap Fire & Rescue firefighters support Kingston’s 4th of July celebration by making a donation to that cause through the department.

For every dollar donated, you’ll get a chance to win either a 4th of July Parade package or one of NKF&R’s famous birthday parties. The parade package includes reserved parking for one car and special seating for four at the Cup and Muffin, two seats aboard the flagship fire engine as it leads the parade, and refreshments. The value is $500.

Make a donation at the headquarters fire station during regular business hours, or call Michèle Laboda at 297-3619 to make alternate arrangements. The drawing will be held at 5 p.m., July 3 at Tiny Town.

Check NKF&R regularly for burn bans
Weather experts are predicting an exceptionally difficult wildland fire season this year, according to information from North Kitsap Fire & Rescue.

Although the region remains well-hydrated as of recent, it only takes a few days of warm temperatures to heighten fire danger.  To check on the status of fire danger burn bans, go to the department’s website, www.nkfr.org; or follow NKF&R on Facebook.  You can also call the 24-hour outdoor burn information line at (360)297-4888. All three resources are updated as soon as there’s a change in burn ban status.
