POULSBO — The city of Poulsbo has proposed a new trail that will connect two of its most popular parks.

The 600-foot-long gravel trail will be dedicated to pedestrian traffic and connect Fish Park with Nelson Park at the end of Liberty Bay.

The project is located between 225 Lindvig Way and 20296 3rd Ave. (near the intersection of Lindvig Way and Front Street).

A majority of the path will pass through grassland. Approximately 480 feet of the trail will run inside the shoreline buffer of the bay. Another 260 feet of the trail will cross through an easement over a private, commercially developed property located on the south side of Lindvig Way before connecting to Nelson Park.

In addition to the trail, a 30-foot wooden staircase and 20 feet of timber steps will be installed at slopping portions of the path.

To mitigate the project, 4,000 square feet of invasive plants will be removed and replaced with native vegetation.

The city applied for a shoreline development permit on Nov. 18. The comment period for the project closed on Dec. 3. The application’s next step will be with the hearing examiner who will review it at an upcoming meeting.
