Myers named 2014 Miss Viking Fest; Palafox wins Little Miss title

Natalie Myers won the 2014 Miss Viking Fest title at the scholarship pageant held April 19 in the North Kitsap Auditorium. McKenna Kelley and Rieley Hamilton were selected Miss Viking Fest princesses. Aliyah Palafox won the Little Miss Viking Fest title. Calloway Cooper was named a Little Miss princess.

POULSBO — Natalie Myers won the 2014 Miss Viking Fest title at the scholarship pageant held April 19 in the North Kitsap Auditorium.

The title came with a $1,500 scholarship. In addition, she and contestant Adelyn Anderson each received a $1,000 Doug McKay Memorial Scholarship for their platforms. Myers will devote her year to teen suicide prevention. Anderson’s platform promoted committing acts of kindness.

McKenna Kelley and Rieley Hamilton were selected as Miss Viking Fest princesses. They each received a $750 scholarship.

Aliyah Palafox won the Little Miss Viking Fest title. Calloway Cooper was named a Little Miss princess. They received gift baskets.

The title holders and their courts will represent Viking Fest and Poulsbo at a number of parades and community events over the next year. They were selected after judging in several categories, including judges’ interview, stage interview, impromptu question, speech, and evening gown.

Viking Fest is May 16, 17 and 18 this year. It celebrates Poulsbo’s Norwegian heritage and coincides with Norway’s Constitution Day.

Myers is a 10th-grader at North Kitsap High School. Her sponsors: Michael and Debbie McCown, Whiskey Creek Steakhouse, Kristin and Wade Zinn, Bob Reister, and Ultimate Performance Rehab & Wellness LLC.

Kelley is an 11th-grader at North Kitsap High School. Her sponsors: Karen Bazar of John L. Scott Real Estate, Carol Ost, Galletta School of Dance, Grandma Eddy, and Grandma Israel.

Hamilton is an 11th-grade Running Start student at Olympic College. Her sponsors: Chris Berkhout of Mike & Sandi Nelson Real Estate, and Ascadia Nova.

Palafox is a fourth-grader at Vinland Elementary School. Her sponsors: Marine View Beverage, Caffe Cocina, Dr. Dan Peck, and Taqueria El Huarache.

Cooper is a fourth-grader at Vinland Elementary School. Her sponsors: RockFish Group LLC.
