Memorial Day Events

KITSAP COUNTY— As the nation honors those who have paid the ultimate price for freedom, local groups will come together in their observances for Memorial Day in Kitsap County.

The Unforgotten

The Unforgotten, Run to Tahoma VIII Celebration of Life ceremony, will begin at 9:45 a.m. on Saturday, May 26, outside the Kitsap County Administration Building at 619 Division St. in Port Orchard.

The Kitsap County Board of Commissioners, Kitsap County Coroner’s Office, Kitsap County Veterans Advisory Board and Combat Veterans International invite everyone to honor the lives of departed veterans through word and song, followed by a motorcade to the Tahoma National Cemetery.

Flag placement

On Saturday, May 26, volunteers are invited to join veterans as they place the U.S. flag on the graves of veterans at 10 a.m. in the Poulsbo Municipal Cemetery. Help will be appreciated as the veterans pick up the flags at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 2.

Honor guard ceremony

At noon on Memorial Day along the Poulsbo waterfront in Muriel Iverson Williams Waterfront Park, an honor guard ceremony will be presented by VFW Post 2463. The ceremony will include a speech from Mayor Becky Erickson, a rifle salute and a wreath drop into Liberty Bay.
