March 2014 Stillwaters Events

Stillwaters Environmental Center is hosting two big events in March.

Stillwaters hosts bird seminar March 15

Bird enthusiasts are invited to Stillwaters to hear Connie Sidles discuss everything avian March 15.

Sidles is the author of books about native birds, such as “Second Nature: Tales from the Montlake Fill.”

Sidles is a Master Birder, with more than 600 North American birds on her life list, according to her website.

The discussion will be from 9:30 a.m. to noon. It will include a photo presentation and hands-on methods of exploring various adaptations and skills used by birds.

Suggested donation is $10-20 per person.

Help plant a green roof on March 23

Learn about installing a green roof March 23 at Stillwaters as the nonprofit begins planting one of its own.

Work begins at 1 p.m.

Visitors can participate or watch. Stillwaters is looking for volunteers to help with the planting, including individuals who can lift and climb.

Time will be dedicated to a discussion on how the project is being implemented.

The roof is part of an entryway project to the Stillwaters campus, 26059 Barber Cut Off Road, King-ston.
