A 38-year-old Bremerton man was chased by a jealous husband wielding a butcher knife Friday morning after the husband caught the 38-year-old and his wife in the act.

The man told police that he went to see his 32-year-old “lady friend” at her apartment late Thursday night in the 4000 block of Mountain View Drive while the woman’s 36-year-old husband was away at work, according to police reports.

When the 36-year-old husband came home early at 4 a.m. and caught the couple “romantically involved,” the husband grabbed a butcher knife from the kitchen and tried to stab the 38-year-old man in the chest, reports said. The 38-year-old avoided being stabbed, but told police he was chased by the husband around the house. When he tried to escape out the front door, the husband slammed him several times between the front door and interior wall of the house.

The 38-year-old finally escaped the house and reported no injuries. Police forwarded the report to detectives.
