A 33-year-old man was arrested for exposing himself to passing cars after at least two parents reported seeing the man partly naked in South Kitsap, the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office reported.

According to the incident report, three different people called 911 around 2:30 p.m. Nov. 22 to report that they had seen a man exposing himself on Lake Flora Road near Sunnyslope Road. The witnesses said the man was walking into traffic and dropping his pants.

One witness, a 26-year-old woman, said she was driving eastbound on Lake Flora Road when she saw the suspect, a white male with dark hair wearing a blue sweatshirt, drop his pants and underwear and walk into the road. She said at the time she had two children, aged 2 and 10, in the car.

Another witness, a 30-year-old man, said he was driving westbound on Lake Flora Road when he saw a man matching the other witness’ description expose himself to the car that was driving in front of him, then expose himself to the witness as he drove by him. At the time, he said he had his 3-year-old child in the car.

When a deputy responded, he located a man matching the suspect’s description sitting at the edge of the woods near Sunnyslope and Lake Flora roads.

When the officer approached and identified himself, the man reportedly jumped up and began to run away. When the deputy ordered him to stop, he complied and was handcuffed.

When asked for his name, the suspect answered that he “didn’t have one right now,” and when asked where he lived he said he was homeless and had stayed with his parents in Bremerton the night before. He refused to give their names or address.

The deputy noted that the suspect did not smell of alcohol, his clothes were clean and he was oriented to the time, date and current events. When asked if he had exposed himself, he reportedly answered, “I don’t think so.”

The suspect was then arrested and booked into Kitsap County Jail under the name John Doe. He was charged with indecent exposure and obstructing an officer, and held initially under $15,000 bail.

He was later identified as a 33-year-old Bremerton man.
