Loveless to get raise with Bainbridge job

Poulsbo's public works director to get $20,000 pay bump with island job.

POULSBO — The City of Bainbridge Island announced in October that it had recruited Poulsbo’s public works director to fill its own vacant position.

Barry Loveless accepted the position of public works director of Bainbridge Island on Oct. 23. He replaces Lance Newkirk, who left the position earlier this year.

Loveless will remain at his Poulsbo job through November, before starting his new position on Dec. 2. His new salary will be $10,924 per month, or an annual salary of $131,088.

It’s about a $20,000 per year raise from his Poulsbo gig, where he was paid $110,949 per year.

In addition to the pay bump, Loveless will gain 15.33 vacation hours each month, up to two weeks of vacation each year.

The island position begins with a 6-month probation period. Should he be let go within a year of his hire, Loveless will receive one year’s worth of salary as severance. He will receive six months of severance pay if he is let go after one year.
