KINGSTON — A 49-year-old Little Boston man was pronounced dead at the scene after a two-car collision on Miller Bay Road last weekend, said Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office officials.

David E. Purser of the Port Gamble Indian Reservation was killed after the 1988 Isuzu Trooper he was driving southbound on Miller Bay Road collided with a 1987 Ford Ranger pick up driven by a 25-year-old Silverdale resident.

Deputies reported that Purser was not wearing a seatbelt. The Silverdale man was wearing a seatbelt and was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with critical injuries.

NKF&R crews were called to the scene at the 25000 block of Miller Bay Road around 3 p.m. July 18. The collision took place at one of the road’s sharpest turn, just south of its intersection with West Kingston Road.

The reason why Purser’s car crossed the center lane and collided with the pick up truck is still undetermined.

Miller Bay Road between West Kingston Road and Indianola Road was closed for five hours.

The Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Unit is investigating the collision. It is unknown whether the consumption of alcohol, use of drugs or excessive speed were factors in the crash.
