Kiwanis donations given, honors awarded | Kingston Kiwanis

As July 4 quickly approaches, our Kiwanis club is busy helping Kingston have another successful 4th of July celebration.

As July 4 quickly approaches, our Kiwanis club is busy helping Kingston have another successful 4th of July celebration.

We donated $500 to Pete DeBoer, president of the foundation responsible for organizing the parade, fireworks and Tiny Town.

Club President Pat Bennett-Forman (selected as North Kitsap School District Teacher of the Year) was proud to select Dave Muller, a Windermere realtor, as Kiwanian of the Year for all his good work in the community and with the Windermere Foundation. Congratulations, Pat and Dave.

The Windermere Foundation also donated $1,600 to the Boys and Girls Club to use when it moves to its permanent home at the Village Green. The Kiwanis Club and Village Green Executive Director Nick Jewett are working on a permanent endowment to the Boys and Girls Club.

The summer food program, a joint effort with Rotary and Kiwanis, is well under way with Rotary past president Gene Medina and Kiwanis member Margaret Lemay making sure our children have food this summer. They hope to open a booth in Tiny Town this 4th of July to accept donations.

It’s not too late to order berries. Go to GreaterKingstonKiwanis.org and download the order form. You can also call Dave Muller at (360) 620-4299. The bright red Mustang convertible is all over the place and will be in Tiny Town July 3-4. Come on down and buy a raffle ticket for this beautiful car.

We will also have an end-of-summer food drive at IGA and Albertsons the first or second Saturday in August. Come by and help out our local food banks. The Kingston Kiwanis Club meets on Thursdays at 7 a.m. at the Oak Table Café. Join us.
