The court date for the nuisance lawsuit against the Kitsap Rifle and Revolver Club and Kitsap County has been pushed to Aug. 9, while the two parties remain in mediation. The original trial date was scheduled for March 3.

“We needed additional time in mediation to reach an agreement in the case,” said Neil Wachter, deputy prosecutor with the county, on Wednesday.

Civil trials in the Pierce County Superior Court are assigned to take place during certain times of the year and the next window after March was in the summer months, Wachter said.

The first session of mediation was at the end of February and Wachter said he expects another session to happen in the next month or two.

In September, Kitsap County Prosecutor Russell Hauge filed the lawsuit against the Seabeck gun club for alleged nuisances after neighbors of the range lodged noise and safety complaints.
