Kitsap County receives $640,000 for rental assistance

More than $640,000 will be dispersed to Kitsap County residents as part of a Community Development Block Grant to ease the impacts of the coronavirus outbreak.

The Kitsap County Board of Commissioners recently authorized an allocation of $641,438 from the Department of Housing and Urban Development through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act) for Kitsap Community Resources and Housing Kitsap in order to assist households in need of emergency short-term rental assistance.

The funds will be used by the agencies to provide assistance for a maximum of three months, to households at or below 80 percent of the area’s median income affected by COVID-19 and not currently receiving any federal, state, or local housing subsidy.

Kitsap Community Resources will accept applications through the Housing Solutions Center (360-473-2035, HSC@kcr.org) to assist households throughout the county, outside the city limits of Bremerton, and those not living in Housing Kitsap units.

Housing Kitsap will accept applications directly to assist households currently living in Housing Kitsap units. Contact Housing Kitsap via phone at 360-535-6100 or email at HousingKitsap@HousingKitsap.org
