Kitdsap Public Health District hires new health officer

The Kitsap Public Health Board has hired Susan Turner, M.D., M.P.H, as the new health officer for the health district.

BREMERTON — The Kitsap Public Health Board has hired Susan Turner, M.D., M.P.H, as the new health officer for the health district. She will be the fourth health officer in the district’s 72-year history.

Turner replaces Scott Lindquist, M.D., M.P.H., who served as the district’s health officer from 2001 to September 2014. Her first day with the District is Dec. 1.

A board-certified family physician, Turner has 22 years of experience as a health officer in Florida. She was the associate director/assistant health officer and medical director for the Florida Department of Health in Escambia County in Pensacola, Fla.

Turner has a bachelor’s degree in science in nutrition sciences and a Master of Science degree in sports science from the University of Washington.

She earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Florida College of Medicine in Gainesville and a Master of Public Health degree from the University of West Florida in Pensacola.
