Kingston Rotary spreads holiday cheer | Rotary News | January

KINGSTON ROTARY

Kingston Rotarians were busy in December working to be sure that area families have enough food, and gifts for children under the tree.

On one (cold, did we mention cold) Friday, hardy Rotarians gathered food donations from noon to 2 p.m. at Kingston IGA. Generous community members provided a truckload of food and some cash—making the total donation approximately $1,000.

To make sure every child who wanted a book for Christmas gets one, Rotarians joined a local church in gathering new “or like new” books to donate. Nearly 70 books were donated in the weeks before Santa’s planned visit.

An organization that has this much fun, and works so hard to find ways to be of service to the community, attracts a lot of friends. Recently, four of those friends who came to some Rotary gatherings, have decided to join the club. We were happy to welcome Lori Lupo, Don Hutchins, Gordon Fountain and Jessica Larson to Kingston Rotary in December. These are interesting, community-involved, hard-working people who will be true assets to our club.

To celebrate our blessings and friendships, Kingston Rotary also threw a holiday party on Dec. 18. We won’t go into the details, but the parties are even more fun than the meetings.

If you are interested in attending a Kingston Rotary meeting, contact Nancy Martin at njmartin@aol.com. Kingston Rotary meets at noon on Wednesday in the Kingston Yacht Club. The meeting is at 7 a.m. on the first Wednesday of each month

We’re always happy to welcome more members who believe in the concept of community service. Be sure to get in touch if this sounds like your kind of fun.

And, from all of us at Kingston Rotary, we thank you for your generous and enthusiastic support of our projects in Kingston and around the world. We are so very fortunate to be your neighbors.
