Kingston-NK Rotary on a roll

Great ideas don’t always take shape overnight. Sometimes it takes a few days. Such is the case with the North Kitsap Youth Job Center.

Great ideas don’t always take shape overnight. Sometimes it takes a few days. Such is the case with the North Kitsap Youth Job Center.

The center is a perfect summer fit between students and businesses and residents. To say it’s a win-win would be a vast understatement. This concept will certainly prove itself to be an excellent program for years and years to come. It just took a little elbow grease from the folks at the Kingston-North Kitsap Rotary to get it rolling.

The Kingston Rotary (which is just starting off on its own, mind you) is already making a huge, positive impact in the community. The job center is just its latest achievement. Even so, it is one that shows that the group of dedicated men and women involved in the Little City by the Sea’s club are truly in touch with the needs of all.

The center isn’t just about getting jobs done in North Kitsap, it’s about giving local youth a hand in finding work and learning what it takes to earn a living. It’s sometimes a tough lesson to absorb (after all who wouldn’t rather goof off for three months?) but an invaluable one as well. If the service can teach just a handful of kids the merits of an honest day’s work, it will far surpass its original intent.

We applaud the Kingston Rotary for realizing the greater needs of the community and answering them with a program that will benefit us all — now and in the long run.
