After a colorful parade of kites and their flyers during Kites Over Kingston March 29, the wind picked up and dozens of kites took to the skies. Scouts from Troop 555 helped assemble kites given away to children (and repair kites that crashed). Also on hand was Jerry Fincher of “Fincher’s Aire Force” and a member of the America Kite Association. He flew a very large red, white and blue kite and promised to return next year with unusual kites and demonstrations. Serving as judges were Sally Christy, Mike Bookey and Rebecca Pirtle. Three members of the Foggy Bottom Jazz Band, called Happy Daze, played flying-inspired music during the event.
