Journey to the center of the Earth (Day)

As far as North Kitsap’s celebration of Earth Day goes this weekend, Kingston seems to be the center of the universe. The waterside community never ceases to amaze when organizing a first-rate party is in order. Residents there seem to live for them.

As far as North Kitsap’s celebration of Earth Day goes this weekend, Kingston seems to be the center of the universe. The waterside community never ceases to amaze when organizing a first-rate party is in order.

Residents there seem to live for them.

And while the Little City by the Sea is growing into something much bigger — something overly apparent due to new development and a soon-to-be-opened high school — Kingston’s small town flavor is just as spicy as it ever was.

Too many cooks don’t spoil the broth there for some reason, they just make the recipe better.

Prime evidence of this will be given this weekend as various organizations band together unselfishly to promote environmental awareness — once again setting the bar several notches higher for the entire county.

More importantly, Kingston continually raises the bar for itself and, as far as Earth Day or any celebration is concerned, is always striving to improve its offerings.

This weekend’s lineup is no different.

The Earth is still taking center stage in the community as Ecofest kicks off at Stillwaters Environmental Education Center but, like a green wave of fun, the festivities are set to spill all over town.

From Mike Wallace Memorial Park to The Kingston Commuity Center and businesses, it seems everyone will be getting into the act. Even (as indicated by a five-day weather forecast) Mother Nature, as a rare glimpse of spring sunshine is set to grace the all-day happenings. (C’mon now, hail in April?)

But as expected, it doesn’t end there. Stillwaters will be continuing the “party” until May 6 with a number of additional earth-related events.

As previously noted, these guys and gals are born bar raisers.

North Kitsap and all of Kitsap County for that matter is fortunate to have such a high caliber of residents who care enough about their community.

For this we thank them.

One and all.
