Investigators are looking for the person who set a vacant home ablaze in East Bremerton Sunday morning.

Central Kitsap Fire and Rescue firefighters were called to the two-story house on the corner of East Boulevard NW and Ocasta Street NE at about 4 a.m.

Three people were evacuated from a nearby house, and the call was upgraded to a two-alarm fire drawing crews from Bremerton Fire Department and Navy Region Northwest to assist in putting out the fire, according to a statement from Central Kitsap Fire and Rescue.

The owner of the house had apparently attempted to prevent people from entering the vacant house by posting yellow police tape over the entryway prior to the fire. The house is known to attract “unwanted visitors,” according to the statement.

Investigators are wondering if the house fire is related to an attempted arson at a bus shed in the Illahee area, resulting in an arrest, according to the statement.

Those wishing to report information on the fire can call (360) 337-4442.
