Humane Society offers adoption discounts for military personnel for Vets Day

Adoptions are this weekend only and the shelter is closed Monday

In honor of Veterans Day, Kitsap Humane Society (KHS) is discounting adoption fees for all adult cats by 50 percent, including spay/neuter surgery and a microchip, for all veterans, active duty personnel and military families when showing their military I.D.

The Humane Society currently has many adult cats looking for forever homes- black cats, tortoise shell cats, orange cats and calico cats of all ages, personalities and sizes.

“Whether military personnel are former pet owners or ready to discover the enjoyment of pet ownership for the very first time, we want to provide an special opportunity for our military personnel and our homeless cats by offering a special adoption rate this Veteran’s Day weekend,” said Eric Stevens, executive director of Kitsap Humane Society.

“Be sure to ask to see the cats that are living in our business offices, too.  These cats are enjoying kennel breaks and hanging out with our staff.”

KHS is open for adoptions this Saturday and Sunday from noon to 5:30 each day.

KHS is closed Monday, Nov. 11 in observance of Veterans Day.

Kitsap Humane Society is a private, non-profit charitable organization that has been caring for animals in need since 1908.

KHS admits almost 5,000 animals per year and has a 94 percent lives saved rate, one of the highest in the U.S.

KHS’ vision is that every adoptable companion animal has a home.  For more information, visit kitsap-humane.org  Rescue. Rehabilitate. Rehome.
