Hazardous chemical disposal event set for June 9, in Poulsbo

POULSBO — Kitsap county is offering North Kitsap residents a free one day collection of hazardous chemicals. The event will be held on Saturday, June, 9 from 10:00a.m. to 4:00p.m. at the City of Poulsbo facility at 22125 Viking Ave NW, Poulsbo. This one-day event supplements the permanent, year-round Household Hazardous Waste Collection Facility in Bremerton.

Chemicals that are acceptable and must be in containers 5 gallons or smaller are:

Adhesives

Aerosols

Antifreeze

Cfls (compact fluorescent lamps)

Corrosive chemicals

Flammable liquids

Fluorescent tubes and other mercury lamps

Household batteries

Lawn and garden chemicals

Motor oil

Oil-based paints and stains

Paint thinners

Pool and spa chemicals

Vehicle batteries

Chemicals not accepted;

No latex paint.

No sharps / syringes.

No marine flares.

No business or non-profit waste.

No containers over 5 gallons.

The event is for Kitsap County residents with household products only, waste from businesses or other non-household organizations will not be allowed. Residents are urged to follow the safety rules of not mixing products, transport items in leak proof tubs, keep items in original containers or label containers and keep items out of vehicle passenger area.
