The Manette Business Association is raising funds to light up the streets of downtown Manette. Strings of cost-effective and energy-efficient LED bulbs will line East 11th Street, making Manette sparkle from the bridge and lighting up the way for shopping and strolling.

With hopes to have the lights in place for autumn’s earlier sunsets, the Manette Business Association’s (MBA) first big push to raise funds was an event held at the Boat Shed Restaurant August 22. Owner Brett Hayfield jumped from the roof of his restaurant after receiving more than $700 in pledges and raffle tickets.

At the September 7 Manette Fest, the MBA will be selling $15 “Get Lit” t-shirts from their booth, with all proceeds going towards the lights project. This year’s Manette Fest will also feature a pancake breakfast, a fun run, a pet parade and more fun for the entire family. With over 50 vendors, live music and local politicians in attendance, the Manette Fest will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
