POULSBO — For South Kitsap, a stumble didn’t matter. And for North, six points made all the difference.

The SK Wolves track team used superior depth in the boys’ events to sprint away with a 100-44 win over North Kitsap Wednesday afternoon.

On the girls’ side, North Kitsap wasn’t able to compete in every event, but used a core group of competitors to edge past South Kitsap with a 69-63 win. Bremerton scored 33 points in the boys’ events and 38 in the girls’.

The South Kitsap boys were led by first-place finishes in the 110 meter hurdles, the 1600 meter run, long jump, the 300 meter hurdles, pole vault, high jump, the 4×100 relay and triple jump.

They also earned a win in the 100 meter run, where Victor Valle stumbled briefly but recovered in time to shave past North Kitsap’s Kolby Hoover.

“If I wouldn’t have stumbled, I think I may have broken 11 seconds,” said Valle, who finished the event in 11.18 seconds.

Valle said he felt stronger during the meet against NK and Bremerton, despite the weeklong spring break that South Kitsap had just completed.

“The first two meets … I didn’t feel so good. But I felt strong today,” Valle said.

The North Kitsap boys were led by Hoover, who earned a win in the 200 meter dash to accompany his second place in the 100 meter.

They also earned wins in the discus, 4×400 relay and the javelin.

On the girls’ side, North got first place wins by Sharlene Pixton in the shot put, Adrienne Carter in the discus, Kim Skelly in the long jump and the 400 meter dash, Breana Johnson in the 100-meter dash and the 4×400 relay.

The South Kitsap girls were led by Eileen Morley, who took first in the 3200-meter run, Kayle Peterson, who took first in the 1600-meter run, Loni Brannon, who took first in the 300 hurdles, and Kayle Peterson, first in the 800-meter run.
