CALL TO ARTISTS

Building on success, Bremerton will again be the site of a statewide competitive art exhibition that attracts top artists from across the state. The Collective Visions Gallery (CVG) is organizing the second annual CVG Show, an event which will take place February 2009. Prize money totaling $6,000 has been secured for the exhibit.

Artists working in any 2-D media, 3-D media or photographic art media may obtain an exhibition prospectus by writing to The CVG Show, Collective Visions Gallery, 331 Pacific Avenue, Bremerton, WA 98337, or by visiting the Web site at www.collectivevisions.com. The deadline for submissions is November 20, 2008. VOLUNTEER TUTORS NEEDED

Literacy Council of Kitsap is seeking volunteers who wish to help adults improve their reading, writing and other basic skills. There are opportunities to assist foreign-born adults in English as a Second Language (ESL) as well as tutoring basic literacy students.

ESL tutor training sessions are Monday, Friday and Saturday, Sept. 15, 19 and 20 at the Council’s Bremerton office. The class will include a Monday evening orientation plus training sessions Friday evening and all day Saturday. New tutors are required to attend all three sessions.

Basic Literacy tutor training sessions are Monday, Friday and Saturday, Sept. 22, 26 and 27 at the Council’s Bremerton office. As with ESL tutor training, new tutors are required to attend all three sessions.
