The Christmas spirit rang loud and clear at Crownhill Elementary School on Tuesday morning as kids, parents and teachers came together for the school’s second annual Frosty’s Breakfast.

A line of hungry stomachs, led by Frosty (the Snowman) and Rudolph, marched into the school’s gymnasium to share a meal on the school’s last day before winter break.

The event, put on by the school’s staff and PTA, was an opportunity for the Crownhill community to treat its kids to something special.

“It’s just a fun event for the kids, teachers and parents,” Principal Jill Carlson said. “It’s a chance for the community to come together.”

And come together they did. “It was very well-attended,” added Carlson, who said the the total turnout of 156 was up from last year, an indication that the event’s popularity should continue to rise.

Adorned with paper reindeer antlers, Santa hats and ear-to-ear smiles, Crownhill students enjoyed french toast, sausage, milk and apple juice as they lined the breakfast tables.

The entire morning, even in the classroom, gave an ode to the holiday spirit.

“We’ve been doing lots of Frosty stuff,” said kindergarten teacher Patty Peterson. “The kids love making crafts and snowmen.”

Those in attendance ensured the children were the focal point of the event, especially Frosty and Rudolph, who offered hugs, handshakes and high-fives to the smiling students.

“The kids love it. It’s fun,” Patrick Buck said. Buck, who took the day off work to be with his two daughters Clarissa and Lydia, said Frosty’s breakfast is all about the kids.

Clarissa’s permanent smile symbolized the event’s success as she enthusiastically nodded her head and said “yes,” when asked if she was having fun.

It was quite a scene as teachers directed traffic, parents took pictures and kids played with Frosty and Rudolph. And while the room buzzed with chatter, laughter and the Christmas spirit, Carlson remarked, “The kids are adorable.”
