The former owner of a Bremerton movie theater pleaded guilty Friday to not paying $68,000 in income taxes.
Cindy Ondracek and her husband Jack owned the Redwood Cinema – now the Olympic Cinemas – from 2002 to 2005. During that time, Ondracek failed to pay taxes on more than $197,000 in income from that theater and the one she owned in Port Orchard since 1986, according to a statement. She faces up to five years in prison and a $250,000, plus interest and penalties on the tax loss.
According to the indictment and plea agreement, Ondracek structured cash deposits into her bank account so they were under the $10,000 mark that generates reports to federal investigators and failed to file income tax returns for those years. Ondracek’s share of the tax liability for those years was $68,000 and she attempted to shield the information on income from government regulators by structuring the cash deposits.
Her sentencing is scheduled for May 27.
