Flipped trailer blocks two lanes on Trigger Ave.

No one was injured in the incident

SILVERDALE — An overturned trailer on state Route 3 near Trigger Avenue blocked two lanes for several hours on Tuesday, June 26, but fortunately no one was injured in the accident.

Washington State Patrol received the call of the incident at about 2:58 p.m. The trailer was being pulled by a Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by a woman from Auburn, who had a male passenger in the front seat.

The couple had just purchased the trailer in Poulsbo. As they were driving southbound in the center lane of Route 3, the trailer began to sway, said Trooper Chelsea Hodgson, Public Information Officer for District 8, which includes Kitsap County. As the driver attempted to regain control of the trailer, it swung around, flipped over onto its top and ended up in the left lane just north of Trigger Ave. The trailer struck the side of the jeep, but no one was else was affected by the accident.

“It was lucky, to say the least,” Hodgson said.

The investigating state trooper was initially going to cite the driver for a high rate of speed, but unbeknownst to the couple, there were wooden boards underneath the trailer, making it heavier than they were told.

State Route 3 reopened at approximately 6:35 p.m.
