4th of July fireworks are allowed at certain times in every city of Kitsap County except Bainbridge Island, and are also legal to shoot off at certain times in unincorporated areas, along with Suquamish and Port Gamble S’Klallam land.
There will be a public fireworks display July 4 in Kingston, starting around 10 p.m. Poulsbo no longer holds its public fireworks display July 3. There’s also a fireworks display in South Kitsap July 1, but it’s for the Fathoms O’ Fun Festival, rather than July 4.
Bremerton and unincorporated Silverdale residents will be able to purchase fireworks through July 4, the only day people will be allowed to set them off.
However, a number of aspects in the city’s rules will change in 2024. A June 21 vote by the City Council will set July 3 as an additional day for legal personal discharge in city limits beginning next year.
The expansion does not come without its share of limitations, as the vote means the sale of fireworks in city limits will be cut to July 1-4. Additionally, legal fireworks will be restricted to “ground-only” models.
No changes in policy appear to be on the horizon in Port Orchard, though a failed vote on the banning of personal firework occurred as recently as early 2022. The 4th of July will be the only day to set off personal fireworks in the South Kitsap city.
The selection of where to get fireworks in both Greater Kitsap and Port Orchard remains similar to past years. TNT Fireworks will have several tents along main roads and store parking lots. More regional options such as Boomtown Fireworks, Shock N’ Awe Fireworks and Pyro Dave’s Fireworks also make their returns.
In this last year of the old law, fireworks can be discharged at different times in Poulsbo city limits from June 28 through July 5.
However, the Poulsbo City Council approved in February to limit the use of fireworks in city limits for only July 4 from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., starting next year. That aligns with the policy for unincorporated Kitsap County.
Fireworks violations in the city of Poulsbo are a misdemeanor, with imprisonment for no more than 90 days, no more than a $1,000 fine, or both.
Here’s a list of some fireworks stands in North Kitsap: Carriere Fireworks in Indianola, Bennie’s Jets Fireworks in Poulsbo, Stars N Stripes at Port Gamble S’Klallam and in Suquamish Hill Family Fireworks, Chiquiti Fireworks and George Fireworks Stand.
