Fire officials still investigating cause of Motel 6 gas leak

BREMERTON — Officials with the Bremerton Fire Department say they’ve narrowed down the source of the fuel from the Aug. 18 Motel 6 explosion to a gas meter on the side of the building. However, they’re still determining the cause of ignition, which could take a few weeks, said Bremerton Fire Chief Al Duke.

BREMERTON — Officials with the Bremerton Fire Department say the source of fuel for the Motel 6 explosion Aug. 18 was a gas meter on the side of the building.

However, they’re still determining the cause of ignition, which could take a few weeks, said Bremerton Fire Chief Al Duke.

Fire Marshall Mike Six, who’s leading the investigation, said he’s concluded his onsite investigation and evidence will be examined by a lab Aug. 25.

“We have a pretty good idea of what’s going on,” Six said. “We should have it wrapped up shortly.”

Six also said the gas line in question passed a pressure test.
