If good fences make good neighbors, then two Central Kitsap men may be looking to fix the “large gap” in theirs.
Kitsap County sheriff’s deputies were called to an assault on the 16000 block of NW Church Road the evening of July 22 after reports of two neighbors getting into a fight, with one man getting knocked unconscious.
The source of the trouble started some time before in a dispute over easement access and a shared well, but the latest flare up centered on a ringing phone, according to reports.
It was the sound of the phone that prompted one neighbor, 63, to begin yelling. A confrontation led to the man insulting the 60-year-old’s wife, which then led to the assault.
The wife, 60, said that after her husband had been knocked out in the scuffle, she attempted to move him to safety, but was then assaulted.
Deputies noted the confrontation occurred in “a large gap in the fence boards” separating the two yards.
A report of the incident was sent to prosecutors for review.
