POULSBO — Norwegian pianist Knut Erik Jensen is ready to tickle the ivory as he pays tribute to a century of Edvard Grieg music at 2:30 Sept. 15 in the Martha & Mary chapel. Jensen will mark the occasion with a rich variety of the composer’s greatest works in both life and music, combining piano with spoken words.

Grieg was a renowned Norwegian composer known for reaching deep into the spirit of the Norwegian people, the country’s nature and its music. He sought to give an identity to those from Norway, and Jensen will offer a display of both his early and lesser known pieces as well as his revolutionary works.

“This young man has been traveling all over and he requested to come to Poulsbo,” said Poulsbo’s Sons of Norway publicity director Darlene Berge.

Jensen studied classical piano at the Music Conservatory in Trondheim, Norway. He will be touring the Northwest through October.
