For those of you who think transportation is simply roads, highways and byways — Think again.

On the heels of massive setbacks, there is the hope of a brighter tomorrow. Referendum 51, we believe, is the first step toward getting our state economy out of the hospital bed and back on its unstable feet.

It’s more than a much needed booster shot to Washington though it would help us right here in Kitsap County as well.

New ferries, safety improvements and right-of-way work here are just the beginning.

R-51 is huge and to many, it’s scary.

Unfortunately, some people refuse to pay for services that benefit everyone. But when the roads fall apart and accident rates go through the roof don’t think they won’t be among the first to complain.

We support R-51 and feel it deserves the voters’ support.
