Eckert resigns from NK school board

He currently serves on Poulsbo City Council

Rick Eckert announced his immediate resignation from the North Kitsap School District board at its April 11 meeting in efforts to focus on his new position on the Poulsbo City Council.

He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve and affirmed his commitment to step down upon his election to the council in November. “Thank you to all the students, staff, and community members who have made this role so fulfilling,” Eckert said.

Eckert served in various capacities, including board vice president; liaisons to the city, Port Gamble S’Klallam and Suquamish Tribes; and most recently as the legislative representative, an NKSD news release states.

“The board and North Kitsap School District extend their heartfelt thanks to Rick Eckert for his seven years of dedicated service to North Kitsap students, staff, families, and the community,” a statement from the district reads.

The board will officially accept Eckert’s resignation and establish a timeline for seeking a replacement for Director District 1 at the April 25 board meeting.
