East Bremerton man with criminal history charged for kidnapping

A 45-year-old East Bremerton man was arrested Tuesday by Kitsap County Sheriff's detectives after a week-long investigation of a possible kidnapping and assault of a 19-year-old.

A 45-year-old East Bremerton man was arrested Tuesday by Kitsap County Sheriff’s detectives after a week-long investigation of a possible kidnapping and assault of a 19-year-old.

Robert Roy Pry was charged Wednesday in Kitsap County District Court for first-degree kidnapping, first-degree robbery and second-degree assault, according to a release from the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office. His bail was set to $500,000.

Detectives had developed probable cause that in mid-September, Pry had kidnapped a 19-year-old South Kitsap woman, moving her from location to location. He assaulted her with a firearm present and stole money from her as well as forced her to cut off her long hair, stated the release.

The detectives found marijuana, methamphetamine, a gun holster,a large number of unused plastic baggies, digital scales and marijuana pipes at Pry’s residence. A smartphone and video camera were also found containing evidence of some of the charges.

Convicted of third-degree statutory rape in 1985, Pry is listed as a level I sex offender and failed to notify the sheriff’s office of a new residence when he moved to East Bremerton from Chico in Central Kitsap. He has an criminal history including 11 felony convictions.
