East Bremerton bank robbery suspect arrested

The Bremerton Police Department sought the man in relation to robbery of the Key Bank on Wheaton Way and Sylvan Road in East Bremerton.

Detectives and Officers of the Bremerton Police Dept. located and arrested a 24 year old Bremerton man at 4:30 today in relation to a bank robbery which occurred just three hours before.

Photos of the suspect and the vehicle in which he left were provided to officers as well as the public, and the vehicle was subsequently located by Bremerton officers near an apartment complex in East Bremerton.

The suspect’s apartment was entered, and the suspect was found hiding in a back room. Joshua James Driskell will be booked into the Kitsap County Jail and held for Probable Cause First Degree Robbery.

Driskell was previously arrested on September 24, 2010 for robbing the same bank at the same location.  In that case, he took a cab to the area to commit the robbery and was arrested a short time later.

He was sentenced to 50 months of confinement for that conviction on 2nd Degree Robbery, and was released from prison on Sept. 17 of this year.  He failed to report to follow his requirements after release and the Dept. of Corrections had issued a warrant for Escape from Community Custody this week.

Detectives are continuing to investigate the involvement of the driver of the car in this case.

“One month after getting out of prison, he robs the same bank–  you simply cannot make this stuff up,” said Bremerton Police Chief Steve Strachan, adding, “while it may seem a little funny, it was deadly serious to the victims at the bank  and our Officers did a great job getting this dangerous felon off the streets within just a few hours.”

Driskell will be booked into jail by this evening. police later discovered that the teller who was robbed today was the same teller as in the 2010 bank robbery.
