Downtown Poulsbo parking enforcement begins this month

Warning period runs through Nov. 14, fines occur after

The city of Poulsbo has begun enforcing timed parking downtown in efforts to improve access to downtown businesses and encourage parking turnover to visitors.

LAZ Parking has been contracted to manage the new system, per a city news release. A warning period (no fines issued) will run through Nov. 14 before full enforcement begins Nov. 15. Enforcement will be seven days a week during posted time limits.

Time limits will range from 1-4 hours, as posted on downtown signage. Fines are $60 for exceeding posted time limits and $250 for parking in employee-only areas without authorization or in restricted zones (loading, bus zones), the release says. Enforcement will not occur during city or federal holidays. Vehicles with valid disabled placards are exempt from time limits.

Employee program

A new downtown employee parking program provides flexible permit options for downtown workers and business owners, ensuring convenient employee parking while keeping customer stalls open, per the release. Details and permit information are available on the city’s downtown employee parking webpage at cityofpoulsbo.com/police-department/downtown-employee-parking/

“By enforcing time limits and creating designated employee parking areas, we are ensuring that downtown visitors can more easily find parking and enjoy everything Poulsbo has to offer. For the first time in the city’s history, we are also providing dedicated and flexible parking options specifically for downtown employees—recognizing their vital role in supporting our businesses while keeping customer spaces available,” said Mayor Becky Erickson.
