Downtown Poulsbo art galleries compete in ‘Extreme Tangerine’

Downtown is set for a fall makeover as art galleries compete in Extreme Tangerine. The art event takes place throughout October. Galleries and shops compete with each other by creating window displays, and artists compete with tangerine-themed work.

POULSBO — Downtown Poulsbo is getting a fall makeover, and the color is tangerine.

“Extreme Tangerine,” a competition between downtown’s art galleries, is taking place through October. Galleries and shops compete with each other by creating window displays, and artists compete with tangerine-themed work.

Patrons can vote for their favorite tangerine art and favorite window display. Ballots are entered to win a $175 gift certificate. Each winning artist also receives a prize.

The competition starts on Oct. 11 during the Second Saturday Art Walk, 5-8 p.m. on Front Street. Meet the artists, watch some demonstrations, and enjoy live music and free food and drinks as you wander among the galleries and shops.

The competition will continue through Oct. 31. Patrons can vote once a day at any downtown gallery. The competition is sponsored this year by the Downtown Poulsbo Art Alliance.
