Child molestation charges were filed against a 23-year-old Pierce County man June 4 in Kitsap County District Court.

Jay Devin Cancil, of Tacoma, was charged with two counts of first-degree child molestation in connection with an incident when he was a teenager.

According to charging papers, a man filed a rape report  on behalf of his 17-year-old daughter with the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office on May 21. The man stated the rape occurred 8-10 years ago at a residence near Olney Avenue and Beach Drive in Port Orchard.

During a May 27 interview, the girl told investigators that she was sexually assaulted from 5 to 8 years old, along with a another girl. The other girls also told investigators she was rape by the suspect weekly from the time she was 4 or 5 until 9 years old, stated court documents.

The suspect claimed he was high on drugs or alcohol at the time of the alleged incidents, and didn’t recall anything becoming sexual during a June 6 interview with KCSO detectives. He was arrested and bail was set at $100,000.

Charges were also filed against the following people:

• June 10: Amy Mary Baril, 46, Port Orchard, driving under the influence and hit and run.

• June 4: Mark Lewis Hatfield, 40, Port Orchard, third-degree theft.
