Broken natural gas lines following tornado damage has prompted the Kitsap County Department of Emergency Management to issue a warning advising anyone in the affected area to call 911 if they detect the odor of natural gas.
The warning, issued around 1:30 p.m. today noted that damage assessment crews working along Harris Road SE and other ancillary roads nearby, have discovered multiple natural gas leaks coming from the structures they have inspected.
KCDEM also stated in the release that crews have been encountering significant vehicular blockages from tree service firms and contractors assisting in the efforts. The authority requested that non-emergency vehicles park as far off the roadway shoulder as possible, or position themselves in driveways and other residential property.
